How This Program Got Started
A few years ago, my family found out that my thirteen year old nephew had cancer. When I told some of the people in the area about him, they wanted to send him a card to tell him that they were thinking about him and they hoped that he would get well soon. These people had never met my nephew, never seen a picture of him, yet they cared about him. Their kindness made me realize that there had to be other children who would appreciate this same kindness.
There are thousands of children across the United States who are terminally ill. Most of these children fell lost and alone. Imagine for a few minutes that you are five, eight or even thirteen years old. You have a condition that there is no known cure, or treatments that can be almost as bad as the illness, if not worse. Imagine having to go through countless treatments on the slim chance that just maybe you'll get a temporary reprieve. Imagine that your illness has you confined to a wheelchair because your body won't cooperate with your brain. How would you feel if this were you?
These are the children I am trying to reach. With the help of various children's agencies, I am sending coloring pages on a monthly basis to these children. It is my dream to have this program operating all across the United States . I want these children to know that there are people in the world who care about them, that no matter what happens to them, they are loved. To do this I need your help. With your donation we can do this. With your help, we can reach these children. We can let them know that they are not alone, that we do care.
Please know that while this is not a non-profit organization, this is a program that I firmly believe in. Since I have started this, I have discovered that most of the children that I send these pages to won't get well . That is why I do not send get well cards. I send thinking of you pages that I design on my computer with a personal message for each child. Please help me reach these children. Please help me let them know that someone cares about them.
